Silver Creek Falls

Sorry I haven't been on the blog for a while. Being back in the working world means a lot less time than when we were on the road. For the wekeend we headed up to Silver Creek just East of Salem. The hike we took involved seeing ten waterfalls and walking underneath three of them. Thankfully for us the sky parted and we had no rain for the majority of the hike, and beautiful views. Here are some of the photos.

September 25 - Opal Creek and September 26 - A Glimpse into Everday Life

Well it has been busy at work lately and I have been working some major hours so I took Wednesday off and Tammy and I headed up to the mountains to hike Opal Creek. Opal Creek is an old growth forest in the Cascade Mountains. Unfortunatly when we arrived in the mountains it was raining, but figuring we should get use to it living in the NorthWest and all we headed into the woods. Our trail followed opal creek into the wilderness. On our way we found a rough skinned newt making his way across the trail in the rain

August 30 & 31st and the Following Week

I forgot the joys that can be had when working. There is nothing better than a weekend off with nothing to do. That was the case this weekend. Plus it was Labor Day so a long weekend. We didn't do much for the weekend. We built Chloe a bunny palace 1.JPG It is so large we even added a small second floor to it. She loves it. On Friday the 29th I found out from work that I was going to be traveling to Las Vegas for work for the next week. I had a lot of excitement about going someplace I had never been before, but also hated to leave Tammy.

Weekend of August 23-24

It's nice to be off work and relaxing again. It's a tough change going from traveling and relaxing all day to working 40 hours a week. Once I got off work on Friday, Tammy and I did our usual and went for a run through the neighborhoods and had a nice realxing dinner. After dinner we called up our friend Roxy. Roxy is the admin assistant at my office. We headed over to her place to meet her boyfriend Sam and watch a movie. It's nice hanging out with people and just having a good time. We slept in on Saturday and then we headed to downtown Portland.

Starting a New Life

It feels weird being back in front of the computer writing the blog. It especially feels different not putting a day and number for my title. This entry is one I have been taking too long to get around too and I know everyone has been waiting for it. Sorry it has taken so long. Well where to start. I guess I should start with what have we done the last week and a half? Well after visiting Mt. Hood we moved into the new place. 1.JPG 2.JPG 3.JPG 4.JPG 5.JPG 6.JPG 7.JPG8.JPG 9.JPG 10.JPG

Day 94 – Hanging Around & Waiting to Move In

Today is the first possible day for our move in to the apartment. I called the apartment complex this morning and they said we may be able to move in at five tonight. So what to do the rest of the day? We spent some time at Brooke and Taran’s house in the morning just hanging out and doing some needed stuff online. After finishing up we said our goodbyes and headed into town. Our first stop was the Post Office. We have our new address finally so we put in a change of address form at the post office.

Day 93 – Hood River Valley

Today we are wide-awake and ready for some more excitement. We slept at the rest area overlooking the Columbia River Gorge last night and got good nights sleep. Today we are headed back into the Hood River Gorge to follow a local fruit tour. Our first stop on the tour was Rasmussen Farm. They had a big market that we walked through, and then we walked through their sunflower garden. Tammy was in heaven.

Day 92 – Columbia River Gorge

We started this morning at the Rest Area on I-84. Thankfully they had free coffee so we juiced up on some coffee and began our touring. Today felt like the old days, with lots of things to see and hiking to do. It was a great way to end our trip before I begin work next week. First on our itinerary was to stop at Cascade Locks. Cascade Locks are an old set of locks that aren’t used any more. At the Locks we stopped at an information center and talked with the lady at the booth. She said we should check out the Fish Hatchery at the Bonneville Dam.

Day 90 & 91 – Mt. Hood and the Columbia River

Today is the 31st and our lease on the RV rental spot is up so we are headed to go pick up our trailer so we don’t have to pay for another month to store it in Salem. We picked up the trailer this morning and headed back into Portland. I had talked to Rick and Russ, and they said it would be fine if I left the trailer in the garage in the back of work, so we headed back to Forensic Environmental. You would think the guys would be sick of us showing up at the office, but they aren’t they happily greeted us and helped us back the trailer into the garage.

Day 89 – Apartment Hunting

Who would have ever known that apartment hunting could be so hard? It is a tiring experience. We started this morning at the Rest are just south of Portland on I-5 Once we arose we headed into Beaverton to look at two apartments. The first apartment appeared to be a perfect fit, but to our surprise they didn’t allow bunnies. The second place we looked at had the same response, so we decided to park at a Wifi hot spot and make some phone calls. I think we called about 100 apartments complexes and came up with two places that ha available apartments in our price range that accepted rabbits.
